4x Friday – October 16, 2020

Welcome to the 4x Friday, four of the coolest things I’ve found, learned, or experienced this past week.

What I watched

This week, TED hosted their first free conference, presented live on YouTube. Countdown to a zero-carbon world included 30+ TED talks from several notables, including Prince William. The one that resonated most with me was the talk by Tom Schuler on concrete mixed with CO2 rather than water. CO2, by the way, is the byproduct produced when converting lime into Portland Cement. Concrete is the second most used substance on Earth. What a breakthrough.

What I drank

Being conscious about health, I’ve found a wine, unlike any store-bought wine that I’ve seen so far, . Each wine is lab tested for purity sugar-free (<0.15g/glass), there is lower alcohol (<12.5%), and the wine is all-natural and additive-free. Rebecca (my supervisor) and I signed up to receive six bottles each month. It’s like Christmas, every 30 days.

What I learned

The Nobel Foundation announced its 2020 Nobel Prizes this past week. Someone asks every time I win a triathlon, how many were competing? So, I wondered the same thing about the Nobel Prizes. Were many nominations for literature? For example. It turns out that information is kept secret for 50 years. Interesting.

What I discovered

Mighty Buildings in California are 3D printing prefabricated ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units). I found four models ranging from 350 square feet to 1440 square feet. The designs are very stylish, and the prices range from $115k to $285k—worth a quick 3D walkthrough.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Steve

P.S. – If you’re into building design and have given up on social media as a source of (valuable) information and education, subscribe to the #HomeDESIGN Professional Daily(free). An online paper I edit and publish for AIBD. By sifting through hundreds of posts by industry influencers, I cut through the content and provide clarity. No social media accounts are needed. I limit each issue to twelve articles/posts, one pic, and one video (12-1-1), and I deliver it to your inbox every weekday evening.

P.P.S. – Looking for some fantastic motivation and enlightenment? Try subscribing to Darren Daily, offered every weekday morning by my success mentor, Darren Hardy (also offered for free).
