The GreenHome Institute’s – “Heatpumps & Gas: Cold Climate Hybrid Systems are here!” – Free CE Webinar

April 20, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EDT

Details about this event

This course discusses the market launch of Hybrid Heat Pump Systems which introduces the combination of a gas furnace with a Cold Climate Air Source Heat Pump. It reviews the components of a Cold Climate Air Source Heat Pump and how the integration with a gas furnace provides cost-effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly cooling and heating all year round through a versatile design that optimizes the use of variable speed technology and smart controls resulting in lower utility bills, lower GHG emissions and a quieter outdoor environment; all while providing the perfect level of comfort.

Chad Gillespie, Sales Manager Performance Construction, Mitsubishi Electric Heating and Air Conditioning, has more than 25 years experience in the building industry. His experience and knowledge stems from a diverse background including wholesale distribution management, manufacturing, and as a builder. Chad now focuses his efforts on providing a design/solution based approach to builders, designers and performance contractors. Chad leads the Performance Construction team with Mitsubishi Electric, in promoting and educating HVAC contractors, builders, and architects on the importance of proper HVAC design, sustainable building practices. He and his team promote a holistic approach to building design which can help the building industry evolve to better serve the needs of the consumer, builders, and environment.

Mark has been in the HVAC Industry since 1995 where he has worked on all levels including contracting, distribution, and manufacturing. Mark joined Mitsubishi Electric in 2012 and has held two roles including Area Sales Manager and Residential Sales Manager. In addition to supporting contractors and distributors in WI and MN, Mark is also part of the product development team at Mitsubishi Electric. He is currently the Regional Sales Manager for the W. WI and E. MN market.

Jason is a Senior Manager at GTI Energy in the Building Energy Efficiency team, and focuses on emerging technology deployment and building decarbonization activities. Jason was formally a GHI LEED QAD and educator. Currently he is involved with applied research initiatives including demonstrating technologies for the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, and NYSERDA. He joined GTI ten years after founding a successful energy consulting firm, Eco Achievers, where he worked on many Net Zero Energy projects, instructing best practices and testing building performance. An unapologetic early adopter, Jason drives an EV and lives in what might be the only home in North America to have both a thermally-driven (gas) heat pump as well as a cold-climate air source heat pump.

Dianna Cacko is a Field Outreach manager at Slipstream. She is focuses on the implementation of residential HVAC rebate programs for Michigan’s rural electric cooperatives. The integration of heat pumps into existing homes across Michigan to reduce electric resistance and fossil-fuel heating sources is her primary focus. Dianna has been involved in the implementation of energy optimization programs in Michigan since 2011 initially working with DTE and Consumers Energy. She has been working with contractors to increase awareness of cold climate heat pumps and the benefits they can provide homeowners and contractors since 2016. Over the last few years, she has been an active contributor to Slipstream studies monitoring market installed dual fuel central air source heat pumps and heat pump water heaters in the State of Michigan.
