The GreenHome Institute’s – “Net Zero Energy Home Mortgages with Lower Interest Rates” – Webinar

October 11, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EDT

About this event

Historically, residential mortgages have been built based on guidelines that are based on PITI (Principal Interest Taxes and Insurance). For years, Green Home stakeholders have worked to change this calculation to include the second largest housing-related category of monthly expenses, utilities / operating expenses. (aka PITI+E). Innovation has bridged this gap and now offers homeowners/home-buyers solutions to fund these critical improvements with their 1st mortgage. Better yet, it also provides these buyers/owners with interest rate reduction opportunities at or below the current interest rates, driven partially by the amount of energy efficiency/sustainability dollars invested (either from the loan or out of pocket) and the resulting improvement in energy performance … in a nutshell, the more dollars invested, the lower the HERS score, the lower the interest rate. Come and learn more about how you and your clients can leverage this.

Prior to watching this, you may want to watch some of our sessions, in our DOE Zero Energy Ready Homes series to understand the technical aspects discussed.

Speaker

Kerry M. Langley is a 38 year residential mortgage industry professional, having personally closed over $1.8 bil. in residential mortgage loans. In 2008, Mr. Langley was encouraged to develop a mortgage financing solution to help the homebuilders in the Atlanta, Ga market who were building homes built to meet the EarthCraft House certification standards. After attending many hours of home builder training classes at the EarthCraft House training center, Mr. Langley developed the idea that the financial value proposition to best support a high performance home needed to be built using a holistic model vs. one based on the purchase price of a home or the energy performance only … this lead to the development of HomeBuck$. Today, the HomeBuck$ software can generate upwards of 35 billion unique iterations to compare the TCO of up to three homes simultaneously.
