4 weekly tips to improve your life & business
Would you enjoy getting a short email from me (Steve Mickley) every Friday, that provides a little morsel of fun before the weekend?

4x Friday is a very short email I send out with four of the coolest things I’ve found, learned, or experienced that week.

It could include new products, ideas, tips, articles, hacks, and tricks.
Mostly building design and construction-related things, but maybe some weird stuff I dig up along the way, too.

It’s very short. A tiny bite of goodness before you head off for the weekend.

Among the ongoing planning, according to the Conference Committee:

  • Local regulations are being monitored.
  • Continuous bi-weekly planning talks with our A-Team and the Orlando Science Center (the intended location of the in-person event).
  • Industry partners and our trainers are actively involved.
  • The local AIBD Chapter and local HBA are actively involved.
  • WHO small meeting recommendations are being followed.
  • Full refunds for pre-registration or transfer to full virtual attendance.
Coffee With Bernie
Never Forget!
This month’s Coffee Chat is on September 11th. Let’s start off the morning with a commencement of that horrible day, September 11, 2001. What were you doing on that day?

Our coffee chat is always open to any topic but I would like to hear if AIBD designers are suggesting any alternatives to clients in regards to rising construction costs, particularly in lumber prices.

Is the spike in construction costs affecting any of your projects or project start dates?

To help your clients look at alternatives have you considered metal studs?

Or advanced framing?

Let’s discuss and share ideas.

The Out of This World membership drive.
On Tuesday, September 22, there is going to be an Equinox.

This only happens twice a year and in other words, it is the moment at which the center of the visible Sun is directly above the equator.

In even simpler terms, this means that the day is almost literally “divided in half” with the same amount of time of daylight as there is night time.

For that one day, join AIBD And get an “Out of this World!” deal – half-off of your first year of membership.

Let’s Talk Certification
Tuesday, September 15, at 3:00 pm EDT

Join Steve Mickley, a long-time CPBD and chief staff officer at AIBD, as he interviews James Wright, FAIBD, the Chancellor of the AIBD College of Fellows, accomplished design professional, and industry leader.

Wednesday, September 2, 2020, 12:00 to 1:30 pm EDT

Our meeting sponsor and the guest speaker is Wes Robbins of QuickTie Systems.

Rescheduled from last month, Wes was in a terrible accident and was unable to present in August.

QuickTie is a patented cable tie-down system that is easy to install and cost-effective. QuickTie Systems is a full catalog of connection and tie-down solutions.

The goal of this meeting is to set up what could potentially become the AIBD, Jacksonville Chapter.

Although AIBD chapters are regional in nature, anyone and everyone are welcome to attend this event. Come on in, click “Join Event.”

Friday, September 4, 12:00 to 1:30 pm CDT

This is an introductory meeting to what could potentially become the AIBD, Houston Chapter. Although AIBD chapters are regional in nature, anyone and everyone are welcome to attend this event. Simply click “Join Event.”
Chapter coordinator, William Burton is working on enlisting a guest speaker from Up.Codes. William Burton, the chapter coordinator, uses Up.Codes and thought you might be interested in learning about them, especially if you work all over Texas and nationally. Find the local and relevant codes, determine the code requirements, and then manage code compliance from project to project.
