His guests are Robert Klob with Robert Klob Designs and Mark Tremmel with Tremmel Design Group.

Robert chairs the AIBD Building Design Awards (BDA) and Mark is an architect from Colorado Springs, a BDA Committee member, and a former ARDA judge.

With the awards program coming up at our Winter Design & Build Conference in February, let’s talk about getting your projects submitted and the marketing benefits of having award-winning projects.

An interview with Jennifer Pippin, FAIBD
Jennifer was recently interviewed by WSIC radio and talk show host Joe Vagnone.

I watched the entire half-hour episode and Jenny did a great job.

She was asked multiple questions about relating design work to clients and I thought she did great.

Her answers were simple and easy to understand for any homeowner who may have been listening.

Directors approve Northeast Florida Chapter
This past week, the only item on the AIBD Board of Directors’ agenda to be voted on was a new charter for the Northeast Florida Chapter, centered in the Jacksonville metro area.

Review the committee reports and other actions taken by the board by viewing the agenda of their latest monthly meeting.

2/3 of remote workers will pay for a back yard office
…but not more than $20k.

Even before the pandemic, remote working was becoming more common.

Many businesses are uncertain about when, or if, their employees will be returning to the office.

According to a survey by business services provider IPX 1031, 62% of remote workers said they would consider buying a tiny office or ‘backyard’ working space for their homes.

But, they don’t want to spend more than $19,999.

Is this possible?

The survey also includes what potential home buyers and existing homeowners want as amenities in a tiny home or tiny office.

Sounds like a business opportunity to me.

4 weekly tips to improve your life & business
Would you enjoy getting a short email from me (Steve Mickley) every Friday, that provides a little morsel of fun before the weekend?

4x Friday is a very short email I send out with four of the coolest things I’ve found, learned, or experienced that week.

It could include new products, ideas, tips, articles, hacks, and tricks.
Mostly building design and construction-related things, but maybe some weird stuff I dig up along the way, too.

It’s very short. A tiny bite of goodness before you head off for the weekend.
