Rethinking our definitions of introvert & extrovert (and developing the skills of both).
“Are you an introvert or an extrovert?” It’s such a common, casual question. Often, it’s part of a getting-to-know-you exercise. What if you want to answer, “Sometimes?”

Because, duh—we’re different depending on the situation. Lots of public speakers are energetic on a stage… and then shy at the networking reception afterward. Do you know anyone who is the life of the party at happy hour after work but totally quiet in the staff meeting?

So what if, instead of thinking about ourselves as existing somewhere on a spectrum between general “introversion” or “extroversion,” we thought of ourselves as having the capacity for both? Or perhaps better said, the capacity for the useful tendencies of both.

Check out this article by a LinkedIn influencer, Shane Snow, and learn the benefits of increasing our capacity for both introversion and extroversion.

Jan 29, 1:15PM to Jan 29, 3:00PM EST

Hang out and network with other high achievers and like-minded professionals specializing in residential design or construction.

Our presenter is Robert Pettett, owner of HomeLink Computer Services.  Since 2001 we have been offering affordable web development for residential builders, designers, and remodelers.  We have served clients in over 20 states in the USA, including AIBD.org, since 2006.

Robert’s presentation will include the basics for someone looking to start a website and then move into some of the particulars of good maintenance practices for those who have websites.  These practices will include Content Updates, ‘Call to Action,’ Search Engine Optimization, and Security.  He will also be touching on Social Media (specifically LinkedIn, Facebook, and Houzz) and how to use these platforms to target specific local peoples in your cities with your marketing message.  Of course, all of these efforts are made to get you more exposure and, ultimately, more business.

“I have appreciated the residential building industry for most of my life.” Robert shares. “My father was a residential builder and developer, and my mother was a top real estate agent for many years. In my younger years, I worked professionally in construction in the areas of framing, trim work, deck building, waterproofing, and landscaping.”  It’s not surprising that Robert started a family-based web development company with a large focus of our work has been among home builders/developers and home designers.

Although AIBD chapters are regional in nature, this online platform makes it easy for anyone to attend from anywhere.

Friday, February, 5, NEW TIME – 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM CST
Hang out with the newly forming AIBD, Southeast Texas Chapter centered on the Houston metro area.

This month’s lunch-and-learn presentation is by Fernando Pages Ruiz, an AIBD Professional member and consultant at Vinyl Siding Institute.

Last month, Fernando taught us the history of wood and stone construction methods and how they relate to how we design homes today.

He also spoke about the renaissance of the traditional neighborhood.

This month, he goes into detail about exterior cladding options and choosing exterior materials for affordable home design that looks grand.

Although AIBD chapters are regional in nature, anyone and everyone is welcome to attend this event. Click “Join Event.”
